Dr Jo MilneDentist
Since qualifying in 1982 Jo has worked 3 years in hospital based Oral Surgery units and the rest of the years in general practice. Special interests include cosmetic makeovers and early intervention of periodontal (gum) disease both of which improve confidence and overall well being. “A lot of dentistry is preventable, so it is my aim to educate patients to reduce risks of either tooth or periodontal damage. Our hygienists are carefully chosen and trained to identify problem areas and continue offering advice at maintenance appointments” says Jo.
Jo has a commitment to excellence and strives to continuously update her knowledge and experience by regular attendance of seminars given by world renowned speakers. A Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in the subject of periodontology was awarded from Otago University in 1998. Jo is a member of the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, New Zealand Dental Association as well as the local Auckland Dental Association.
Spare time allows indulgences in tennis, tramping and skiing as well as support of her 2 children Hannah and Andrew.
Jo works on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Lyn came to Dentist on Shakespeare in 2002 and thrives on seeing the amazing improvements in her patients oral hygiene year after year.
Qualified as a dentist in the Phillipines in 1987, Lyn has added to her experiences by actively attending seminars centered around gum health. Lyn understands that lowered immunity can increase the effects of plaque damage and for this reason keeps herself up to date with the numerous products available as adjunctive homecare aids. Lyn is also our resident expert on Zoom in-surgery whitening systems so please feel free to make an appointment to look through our before and after albums whilst Lyn explains the process.
Lyn says “If a gum bleeds when brushing or flossing, it is not healthy.”
Lyn will pull out all the stops to ensure that you maintain a healthy, bright smile for life.

What our clients are saying
I have been seeing the team at Dentist on Shakespeare for 16 years and have always felt assured that each and every time they were doing the best job possible for me with my interests at heart.
Flexible, helpful and always willing to talk through alternative solutions if the one provided is not quite right for me.
I trust the Shakespeare crew and would recommend them to anyone needing quality dental work.
Earlier this year I decided to change my dentist, and on the recommendation of a friend, I came to Jo Milne and her team. My decision was a good one.
I was very pleased with the results of the work I had done. Her professionalism and expertise is excellent; her style and the manner in which my work was completed was great.
Jo is ably assisted by Pam and Alice to ensure each client is made to feel welcome and relaxed. I felt assured that any work done was to be completed as efficiently and pleasantly as possible.
It was, and still is, a pleasure to deal with Jo and her Team. I have no hesitation in recommending Dentist on Shakespeare to anyone wanting high quality, friendly dental work.
We have been patients at Dentist on Shakespeare for well over 10 years and have always been extremely happy with the suggestions and dentistry that Jo has done for us.
My husband is disabled and all the staff are lovely, very friendly and so helpful with him that he feels quite special when we go there.
The building is always spotless and there is off-road parking right at the door which is wonderful on rainy days.
We have been patients of Jo’s for a number of years now and both of us have had restoration and upkeep of our teeth by both Jo and hygienist Lyn.
From a feeling of dread at going to the dentist we both now really enjoy our regular appointments. Right from the moment we walk in the door the friendly greeting and calming atmosphere of the reception room puts us instantly at ease.
We would commend the always friendly staff and Jo, who seems to go about her business in a very calm manner and always with a big smile.
Thank you all.
